Currently available in the U.S., Canada, U.K., New Zealand and Australia (and soon-to-be available throughout Europe), Wajam Mobile VPN app can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store.

HOW VPN BENEFITS YOU

Secure your data. A VPN (virtual private network) secures your device’s internet connection to guarantee that all the data you’re sending and receiving is encrypted. Read this great article on Lifehacker on Why You Should Start Using a VPN.

Lower data usage. The Wajam VPN app also compresses your data, which may save you money in data usage.

Unlock US exclusive content. VPN acts as the intermediary between you and the website you access, letting you access exclusive content in other countries. For Canadians, this means that you will be able to access Hulu, PandoraSpotifyRdio and watch US Netflix.

RECOMMENDATIONS FROM FRIENDS

The Wajam VPN app also includes the Wajam social recommendation engine, which gives you access to results from friends while you search in Google Search on Safari, as well as on Apple Maps, Google Maps.

ABOUT WAJAM

The Wajam social search engine offers you an easy way to get your friends’ input on places to go, products to buy, as well as videos, photos and links on searches conducted in Google through Safari. This new VPN product gives you the ability to access other countries’ exclusive websites and keep your data safe from unsecured Wi-Fi networks and harmful sites.

This week, Wajam CEO Martin-Luc Archambault joined Busbud CEO LP Maurice at the first Founder Institute Montreal event— Startup Founder 101.

Wajam CEO Martin-Luc Archambault and Busbud CEO LP Maurice at HEC

ADVICE FOR STARTUP ENTREPRENEURS

Both entrepreneurs fielded questions from the audience, and gave insights taken from their own startup experiences building successful teams and products in the past decade.

Martin-Luc had these pearls of wisdom for first time entrepreneurs, “Give it a try and go for something big. Go for something that will change the world.”

Martin-Luc’s recipe for entrepreneurs:

  • Go big or go home.
  • Try quickly.
  • Fail fast.
  • Get up and do it again.

LP Maurice focused on creating a product that will solve a real problem in the world.

LP’s advice for entrepreneurs:

  • Make something that people want.
  • Find a real problem to solve. Not some imaginary construct in your mind that you think could be a business.
  • Look around you, observe. People are having all sorts of problems. Everywhere. In school, in universities, on the street…
  • Solve your own problem or someone else’s problem. The key is to get really passionate about solving one problem that you see, and to focus completely on it.
